Note: If you are planning to have the lining professionally installed, it is worth checking with your fitter how much carpet they would like you to order.
Colours can vary slightly between rolls, so we recommend ordering enough carpet in one go rather than topping up later. This helps ensure your carpet is cut from the same roll for the closest possible colour match.
Why choose 4-way stretch carpet?
Our 4-way stretch carpet lining is soft, flexible and high quality, making it ideal for DIY van conversions and camper builds. It stretches in every direction, so it wraps neatly around tricky corners and curves such as wheel arches, window recesses and door frames without the need for endless cutting and patching.
Kiravans SoundBlocker 2mm
SoundBlocker is a 2mm thick butyl rubber active sound deadening mat with self-adhesive backing. It reduces vibration and resonance in the large, flat metal panels of your van’s side walls, helping to get rid of the ‘tinny’ road noise in the back of your van as you drive along. It has a reflective 0.1mm aluminium constraining layer and sticks extremely well, even in high temperatures. It contains no bitumen, is non-flammable and cuts easily with a utility knife.
How much SoundBlocker do I need?
SoundBlocker will mostly benefit large flat panels with no folds or creases in them. It will not add much benefit to campervan floors, roofs or wheel arches, as these already have ridges in them to help reduce road vibration noise.
The 80/20 rule applies here - you get diminishing returns once you start applying the mat beyond the flat panels. This material is heavy, and extra weight in your van means more fuel use, increased brake wear and reduced handling.
Will SoundBlocker fit behind a DoorStore?
Yes, there is space for 2 sheets behind it in the sliding door. It is easy to apply and does not obstruct the DoorStore. Adding SoundBlocker behind the DoorStore can really help reduce noise from the sliding door.
- Cut and apply it so that it only sticks to the flat areas of the van door.
- Do not apply it to brackets or raised sections of metal, as this will prevent the DoorStore from fitting properly.
- Make sure the cable in the top void is not trapped under the SoundBlocker — leave it free to move.
High Temperature Carpet Adhesive Spray
Extremely flexible glue with high temperature resistance up to 90°C. We advise using approximately 1 can per metre length of carpet.
To apply, first ensure the surface to be bonded is clean, dry and free from contaminants. Adjust the nozzle to achieve the required spray pattern and, from a distance of approximately 25cm, spray one surface horizontally and the other vertically to a minimum coverage of 80%. Allow the adhesive to become touch dry, then press the items firmly together from the centre outwards to achieve good contact and remove any trapped air bubbles.
